You owe it to your business and your customers to make sure your people know what they are doing. Training video is the most straightforward tool there is for distributing crucial operational knowledge, and it has one advantage no live trainer can match: it delivers the exact same instruction on its thousandth showing as its first.

The format works because it captures more than steps. Filmed properly, a training piece carries the environment, the pacing, and the judgment of your best person doing the task correctly, which is what a new hire actually needs to see.

We would add one thing to the 2020 version of this argument: training content has become more valuable, not less. The same footage that onboards a technician today is the raw material for institutional memory, and increasingly for the AI systems companies are starting to run on. Shoot it once, properly, and it keeps working.
