The Challenge
Microbiologics is a Minnesota biotechnology company working in quality control microorganisms, molecular diagnostics, and contract research in microbiology and virology. Filming here means live laboratories, BSL-3 environments, strict protocols, and science that has to be represented exactly right. Most crews cannot clear the door. The company needed corporate and product films that were technically accurate and genuinely human at the same time. The accuracy stakes are unusual here: in regulated science, a wrong visual implication is worse than a dull one, so every frame had to survive expert review. And the films had to work for audiences who will never set foot inside the building.
The Production Approach
We shot inside the working labs, including BSL-3 suites, under the facility's protocols. The corporate overview and contract research films explain the science precisely. An acquisition announcement put leadership on camera at a company milestone. And the brand films reach past the technical audience: An Ode, a tribute to the unsung lab scientist, and Creating a Safer World, which connects the work to the people it protects. Motion, lighting, and macro camera work translated processes that happen at benchtop scale into images an executive audience can follow without losing scientific precision. Interviews paired the scientists with the work itself, so expertise reads on screen instead of being claimed.
The Impact
The films work across audiences that rarely share content: technical buyers evaluating a contract research partner, employees and recruits who see their work honored, and the broader market that needs the mission in human terms. Science shot like it matters, because it does. The BSL-3 access itself became part of the proof: a production partner trusted inside the room is a different class of vendor. The brand films travel furthest, carrying the mission to audiences the technical work never reaches.
